Charles Bradley died on Saturday at the age of 68 after battling an aggressive form of cancer lately, BBC News reported.
Bradley’s story is very interesting, he’s only known fame in the last few years of his life, especially because of how he managed to mimic James Brown. Bradley released his first white at 62 in 2011 – “No Time for Dreaming” in 2011, aged 62.
Last year, he was forced to take a break to treat a stomach cancer, but he recovered and it seemed that everything was medically well.
Unfortunately, his cancer had relapsed and two weeks ago he announced that he had to cancel all the concerts in 2017. His death, however, soon after.
Charles Bradley spent much of his life working as a showcase mannequin – and he spent many years living in the streets sleeping in New York’s subway stations. In the early 2000s, the talent was discovered and received a contract to sing James Brown in the opening of a Sharon Jones concert.
He recorded a number of singles before launching in 2011 the album “No Time for Dreaming” which was named by Rolling Stones as one of the best albums of the year.
His success and the incredible ability to play live has made several concerts around the world and sing to some of the world’s most important music festivals, including Glastonbury, Coachella, and Primavera Sound.
