The Egyptian woman, Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty, 37, died Monday in a hospital in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, as a result of kidney failure and breathing problems caused by her excess weight.

The woman had been admitted to Al Beryil Hospital earlier this month. It was transferred from India, where Abd El Aty had managed to reduce its weight from 500 to 200 kilos.

According to a statement issued by the medical center, the woman died this morning while she was hospitalized and underwent intensive treatment under the supervision of 20 specialists.

Apparently, the deceased, at first, had reacted well to the treatment.

“But she surrendered in his fight against obesity and at dawn, on Monday he breathed his last breath,” the hospital statement concluded.

After suffering complications: fever, urinary tract infections and sores (caused by poor mobility), the woman was transferred from India to the United Arab Emirates. When he entered the new hospital, being overweight was not what most worried doctors. The deceased had lost weight considerably and weighed 176 kilos.

Al Shahat, the director of the hospital, said doctors had detected a serious dysfunction in the aortic valve of the patient’s heart, which two years ago had suffered a brain clot that had affected her ability to speak and move.

The team of specialists also detected problems in their bones, reason why the woman received sessions of physiotherapy and rehabilitation, whose objective was that she could sit in a wheelchair, after years spent lying down.

Eman wanted to walk again, having managed to lose 300 kilograms.
