Jennifer Lopez donated a million dollars to the victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Her gesture is the first step of an aid campaign on the island severely hit by the hurricane last week, AFP writes.
Lopez, born in New York, from Puerto Rican parents, said he was giving money to charities and joining other Latin stars who donated to aid the hurricane island.
“This was the most powerful hurricane that hit Puerto Rico in nearly 20 years, and the damage is horrific,” Lopez said in a press conference with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
“We urgently need to pay attention and support to the state of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean through donations and any help,” she said in Spanish.
Lopez, who is in a relationship with baseball player Alex Rodriguez, said that along with several athletes, he launched a campaign to hijack two planes to bring food to the Puerto Rican casualties.
